Strange, terrifying fish washed ashore in Texas

In early January, a Texan woman was walking along the shores of Port Bolivar when she noticed a strange and terrible fish.

Suzanne Shoat Arceno posted two photos of this strange fish to a Facebook group called Bolivar Beachcombers and wrote: “Walking along the beach today, I found a strange fish. Can anyone tell me what it is?”

Texas Parks and Wildlife Scientific Director of Coastal Fisheries Mark Fisher thinks the strange fish could be an eel.

Perch, also known as Echiophis Punctifer, is commonly found in the Atlantic Ocean. According to the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, they tend to live in shallow bays and lagoons.

Although Texas A&M University in Galveston was unable to find a reason why the fish washed ashore, scientists noted that periodically various sea creatures find themselves on the shore due to weather and currents.
