Term from 12 to 20 years: Muscovite is accused of treason for transferring money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

A resident of Moscow has been arrested on charges of high treason for financial assistance to the Ukrainian army, the Center for Public Relations of the FSB of Russia said. The name of the suspect was not called. The secret service said that the woman was detained in Moscow “when trying to leave the Russian Federation.” The Lefortovo court chose a measure of restraint for her in the form of arrest for a period of two months. Under Article 275 of the Criminal Code, she could face 12 to 20 years in prison. Other details of the case have not been disclosed.
According to the human rights association “First Department”, this is the first known case when financial assistance to Ukraine becomes the basis for initiating a case of treason.
According to human rights activists, at least 20 people were detained on suspicion of treason in 2022, and 11 sentences were issued under this article. Cases of treason are classified and are considered behind closed doors. Often, the very fact of such a case becomes known only after the verdict is passed.
