Teacher stabbed to death by student in class at school in France

A high school student stabbed to death a Spanish teacher at a school in the French city of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, according to the BBC.
French government spokesman Olivier Veran confirmed the attack on Wednesday and reported that the offender is 16 years old. The killer's name has not been released.
Police were called to the Saint-Thomas d'Aken school and arrested the student at the scene.
The French newspaper Sud Ouest reported that the attacker had entered when the Spanish teacher was giving a lesson, and attacked her with a knife.
According to local media reports, the teacher was in her fifties and died on the spot, despite the efforts of the paramedics who arrived to take her life.< br />
Local media reports that the student may have mental health problems, and at this stage of the investigation, the police have no reason to suspect terrorist motives for the crime.
The school where the murder occurred , is a private Catholic institution near the center of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, a famous French summer destination.
