On the night of November 4, an earthquake occurred in the western part of Turkey. Tremors of magnitude 4.9 were recorded in the Buja area of ​​Izmir at 03:29. After the earthquake, there were 80 aftershocks with magnitudes ranging from 1.0 to 2.7. It was found that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 14.47 kilometers.

Turkish media reported that the minaret of the Selahattinoglu mosque in the Kubilai district of the Konak district was destroyed by the earthquake. Also after the earthquake in some parts of the city there was a short-term power outage. In addition, the operational service "112" chimneys of some buildings were reported.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said that according to the latest data, there were no deaths, but 64 people were injured due to panic, 7 people were hospitalized, one of them in in critical condition.

Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said cracks had formed in 20 buildings, but there were no reports of casualties. However, according to him, 3 people were injured because they jumped from the balcony. He confirmed that the condition of one person is serious.

Governor of Izmir Yavuz Selim Koshger, in turn, said that as a result of the earthquake in the center of Buja, there was no damage, except for the minaret of the mosque in Konak. As for the victims, the injuries were received by people as a result of jumping from a height.
