Stone terror: IDF managed to reduce the number of attacks

The Israel Defense Forces said on Monday that its forces were actively pursuing rock throwers during raids in communities in Judea and Samaria.

This was stated by Col. Tomer Sayag, who commands an infantry unit currently stationed in southern Judea and Samaria, Ynet reports.

According to him, most of the stone attacks are directed against soldiers, and the perpetrators are often arrested during night operations.

So, two weeks ago, the Israeli security forces raided one of the villages. The military entered the village around 2 am, and by 3 am they had arrested 21 people allegedly involved in organizing most of the stone attacks in the area.

According to Colonel Sayaga, the average age of the suspects is from 24 to 27 years . Among them was also one minor.

“Such a raid is shocking. Most of them are not affiliated with any terrorist organization. These are young people looking for conflict, often not out of ideology. They are organized via Telegram and intend to wreak havoc,” the military commander explained.

The colonel noted that the raids, which are carried out jointly with the Shin Bet, are aimed at arresting the organizers.

” We have reduced the number of stone-throwing incidents from dozens every night a few weeks ago to less than 10 now. Our goal is to settle scores with those who attack our troops with stones. We cannot let these young people believe that they can avoid arrest,” he stressed.
