A monument to Margaret Thatcher, Britain's first female prime minister, was pelted with eggs just hours after the unveiling.

According to The Epoch Times, the statue was unveiled in Thatcher's hometown of Grantham, Lincolnshire.

Less than two hours after the unveiling, an egg flew into the statue. There were traces of an egg and a shell on the bottom of the monument.

A man in a white T-shirt was also seen at the scene, holding a box of eggs in one hand and preparing to throw a “projectile” with the other.

The police received reports of the incident, but reportedly no arrests were made.

In addition, the statue was booed by ordinary passers-by, who shouted: “Tear it down.”
