Sounds like gunshots at a rap concert in Rochester, New York, forced the crowd rush to the exits. As a result of the stampede, one person died and nine were injured, two of them are in critical condition, police said.

“We don't have any evidence of gunshots or that anyone was shot or shot at the scene,” — Police Chief David Smith said at a briefing on Monday.

When the concert at Rochester's Main Street Armory ended just after 11:00 pm, people leaving the hall created a dangerous stampede, according to Smith. he said when the police were able to get inside, three women were found with serious injuries.

The 33-year-old woman died in the hospital, and two others are in critical condition on Monday, according to police. Seven other people were also taken to hospitals with injuries that are not life-threatening, Smith said.

“What started yesterday as a night of live music and fun for artist GloRilla ended in tragedy,” — said the police chief.

Although there is no evidence of a shooting, police are investigating several possible causes of the deadly stampede, including “possibly crowd size, gunshots, pepper spray and other contributing factors,” according to Smith.< br />
