Spain agrees to extradite hacker who hacked Netanyahu and Biden accounts

Spain's High Court on Friday granted a US extradition request for a British citizen wanted by the US over a 2020 Twitter hack that compromised the accounts of several politicians, including the prime minister Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and Joe Biden.
Joseph James O'Connor was arrested in July 2021 in the southern city of Estepona. The High Court said the United States was in the best position for a judicial inquiry because it was there that the evidence obtained during the investigation, as well as any damage caused.

O'Connor objected to the proposed extradition to previous hearing in Madrid.

The July 2020 Twitter attack hacked multiple verified accounts, including those of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, former US President Barack Obama, reality TV star Kim Kardashian , Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, Michael Bloomberg and Kanye West.

A hacker used accounts to obtain digital currency, prompting Twitter to ban certain verified accounts from posting for hours until security restored.
