A 20-year-old youth was killed in a gunfight Friday night in a northern Arab village in the Galilee region, adding to a wave of killings in Israel's Arab communities.

The victim was identified in the press as Zein Awad. According to the police, he was found with penetrating gunshot wounds near his place of work in the Arab city of Mazraa, near Nahariya. Paramedics called to the scene took Awad in critical condition to the hospital, where he soon died .

Police have opened a murder investigation.

Earlier Friday, a 25-year-old man was seriously shot in the Arab coastal town of Jisr ez-Zarqa, north of Caesarea. to the hospital. The police said they were investigating.
