“Skaņu meža” promises a real avant-garde in the central concert evenings / Article

On October 8 and 9, a festival of unaccustomed music will take place in the cultural space “Hanzas perons” “Sound Forest 2021” central concert evenings. Among other things, the outstanding composer, instrumentalist Anthony Brixston and his comrades in music – accordionist Adam Metlox and trumpet player Suzanna Santosa Silva will delight with his performance.

“Skaņu mežs” has survived and is in good shape, “Rihards Endriksons, the festival’s creative director, reports on the Latvian Radio program Kultūras rondo. Last year, in response to the restrictions, the festival’s intentions had to be changed three times. In the end, the program was like a compromise – resulting from what was possible, of course, while maintaining the relevant standards of the festival.

“This year,” Skaņu mežs “has returned to the listeners in the classic form, in the sense that the program is exactly what we have been planning for it since October last year,” says Andriksson. “As soon as the previous festival ended, we started dreaming about what we would do, if we had the opportunity to do it again, there would be no restrictions. [..]

We are relegated to some things, vulgarly speaking, to those who would break their hands in more stable conditions and say that maybe we will not cut the festival budget, we will postpone it for another year. “

Describing the festival program, its artistic director mentions the issue of prestige. This is definitely solved by the excellent participation of Anthony Breakston, which has attracted considerable media attention, among other things. “The most ambitious additions to the Sound Forest program are related to real avant-garde music,” emphasizes Andrewsson.

The “Sound Forest 2021” program is available on the festival website. Both concert evenings will take place in “green” security mode: entrance only for vaccinated and / or Covid-19 sick visitors, presenting a valid Covid-19 certificate at the entrance.
