Sister of recently imprisoned Italian Mafia Chief, dubbed “Last Godfather of the Sicilian Mafia” was arrested. The police searched her house and found a pizza — slips of paper that the boss used to deliver his hand-printed instructions, according to The Guardian.

According to investigators, Rosalia Messina Denaro, the sister of Matteo Messina Denaro, who was considered the most wanted person in Italy until her arrest on January 16, helped her brother evade arrest for 30 years and acted on his behalf in the role of “cashier”. She also ran the pizza transfer network, which allowed the mafia boss to maintain a relationship with her organization during long periods on the run.

“Rosalia Messina Denaro enjoyed the absolute trust of the boss“, — said Alfredo Montalto, the judge who ordered her arrest. According to him, she ran a chain of pizzerias through which Denaro delivered his orders to other associates.

Some of the pizzas found in a house in Castelvetrano, the mob boss's hometown on the southwestern coast of Sicily, also contained his views on life and personal beliefs.

The pizzini, which were hidden in a chair cavity in Denaro's sister's house, were addressed to various people, including alleged Mafia members.

Rosalia Denaro also hid apizzinos with a detailed note about her brother's health. Matteo Denaro was detained in a private clinic in Palermo, where he was periodically treated for a tumor under the assumed name of Andrea Bonafede.

Denaro is reported to hold the key to some of the most heinous crimes committed by the Sicilian Mafia, including the 1992 bombings.< br />
Denaro is being held in a high-security prison in the central Italian city of L'Aquila, where he received his first round of chemotherapy.

To date, police have located at least three apartments which were used by mafiosi, including one in which a closet full of clothes was used to hide a secret bunker. In the hiding places, prosecutors found luxurious clothes, emeralds, diamonds, a Francis Ford Coppola movie poster “ The Godfather” and several books, including biographies of Vladimir Putin and Adolf Hitler.
