Singer-songwriter and guitarist David Crosby, founding member of two popular and hugely influential 60s rock bands, Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, died at the age of 81.
The cause of the star's death has not been disclosed, according to Variety.
The death was said to come as a surprise to Crosby's fans who followed his Twitter account. which he actively pursued. The last posts were published on Wednesday.
Eight months ago, Crosby hit the headlines when he said he would no longer perform live.
“I'm too old to do it further. I don't have the stamina; I don't have the strength,” he said at the time.
David Crosbid was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice as a member of the Byrds (1991) and Crosby, Stills & Nash (1997).
