The Shin Bet exposed an Iranian operation in which the Iranians tried to recruit Israelis to gather information. The Times of Israel reported.

According to the Shin Bet, the Iranians used a fake Facebook profile called “Sarah Pappy” who was presented as a young Jewish woman with connections and business in Israel. The profile had many friends, mostly Israelis.

According to Shin Bet, after contact was established, the conversations were transferred to the WhatsApp messenger.

It turned out that “Sarah Pappy” asked Israelis, including Shin Bet officers, to find information about Israelis of interest to Iranian intelligence, as well as Arab diplomats and businessmen in Israel, in exchange for thousands of dollars in payment.

Shin Bet noted that those behind the profile even used emotional and romantic manipulation to get information.

In addition, the Iranians asked the Israelis to place an inflammatory banner against the Russian president, “with the aim of damaging Israeli-Russian relations.” , the Shin Bet said in a statement.
