Scientists: running reduces the risk of metastases

Running and other high-intensity aerobic exercise can reduce the risk of developing metastases by 72%. This conclusion was reached by researchers from Tel Aviv University. In particular, running increases organ glucose uptake, thereby decreasing the amount of energy available to tumors. “Every day we let the mice run for a few minutes and checked their internal organs after exercise. We were shocked to see that the tissues changed after physical activity,” said Carmita Levy from the Department of Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry.
