Scientists: Mauna Loa eruption may end soon

Scientists have downgraded the Mauna Loa volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii from Warning to Watch. The researchers said the volcanic eruption may soon end.

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory noted that the eruption continues, but lava output and volcanic gas emissions have “significantly decreased.” This is reported by the Associated Press.

“Current behavior suggests that the eruption may end soon. There is a small chance that the eruption may continue at a very low eruption rate,” the observatory said.
