It turned out that the river is infected with antibiotics.
A new study by British scientists has shown that many rivers in different countries of the world contain dangerously high levels of antibiotics. These drugs penetrate into the drinking water and fish, and from there to the human body, according to the Chronicle.info with reference to zdorovia.com.ua.
Researchers from the British University of York analyzed water samples from rivers in 72 countries around the world. 65 samples had traces of antibiotics. The most dangerous levels of pollution with these drugs was discovered in the rivers of Africa and Asia, especially in Bangladesh, Kenya, Ghana, Pakistan and Nigeria, where it exceeded the permissible levels.
The worst situation was in Bangladesh, where they found the concentration of the drug metronidazole, 300 times the permitted level. These medications are used to treat bacterial infections of the skin and mouth. Considered a safe level of 20 000 to 32 000 nanograms per liter of water depending on the antibiotic. The authors of the study looked for traces of the 14 most common antibiotics. In 43% of samples from rivers were discovered trimethoprim medicine used to treat a urinary tract infection.
In Britain there are new crop circles
Also in river waters were found traces of ciprofloxacin, often exceed safe parameters. Note that the antibiotics, which penetrate into the fish body and the reservoir subsequently may again be in a person that leads to the development of antibiotic-resistant infections.
