Wearing sneakers can be harmful for ankles
Regular wearing of shoes can be harmful to the ankles. Scientists believe that a flexible, modern athletic shoes are more likely fractures of the joints, than our ancestors, who walked barefoot.
Sneakers have become comfortable and casual shoes are worn not only during sports. But now it turns out that their use poses a risk to health because they can cause long-term damage to the joints of the bones.
The researchers compared the bones of modern man with the bones of our ancestors engaged in hunting in the Stone age. It turned out that in the modern period our joints ankles less flexible than it was many years ago. And through this we are more vulnerable to fractures.
The cause of these evolutionary changes in the bones of the shins scholars see in modern sports shoes, and also lack of exercise. Note that the bone structure of the shins depends on the level of physical activity and footwear, they are able to change throughout life. In prehistoric societies and in modern tribes, who also engaged in hunting, humans mostly walked barefoot or used minimal shoes, even when traveling for a long distance. In modern industrial societies such a no one allows. People for many centuries, wear shoes to protect feet.
Wearing the sneakers can raise the level of fractures
Researchers from the University of Bologna in Italy assessed the talus (the talus bone) – the bone between the foot and the lower leg part. They created 3D images of the 142 well-preserved bones of the lower legs of people from different periods of history, including prehistoric ancestors and our contemporaries. This comparison showed that the bones of the lower legs of human ancestors was much shorter than that of people who live now. But it greatly reduced the risk of fractures.
