Some bacteria can cause life-threatening cases of pneumonia and septic shock.
In the new study, examining 3 plants with medicinal properties, such as white oak, Tulip tree and aralia prickly, scientists have discovered that they have antiseptic properties, writes the online edition of the Chronicle.info with reference to 24tv.ua.
Scientists have made extracts from parts of these plants.
Septic shock – what is it?
This is a medical emergency, the most severe manifestation of sepsis, which occurs when infectious, surgical, urological, obstetric and gynecological diseases. It is characterized by severe hypotension and disorders of systemic hemodynamics.
Then the extracts were tested on three types of bacteria with multidrug resistance commonly found in wound infections:
Staphylococcus aureus (Staphylococcus aureus)
Friedlander Bacillus (Klebsiella pneumoniae).
Scientists have discovered that plant extracts possess antimicrobial activity to these three types of bacteria.
Lab tests showed that extracts of Tulip tree and white oak inhibit the growth of S. aureus, A. baumannii and K. pneumoniae.
Scientists have unraveled the mystery of the mysterious flashes on the moon
Extracts of these plants also prevent the formation of biofilms of S. aureus that can act as a shield against antibiotics.
