Harvard University held a very cool chemical reaction in the Universe. The appearance of a chemical element occurs at absolute zero. It was achieved by using an ultraviolet laser.
Scientists were able to create on Earth diatomic molecules of potassium and rubidium. To get the researchers lowered the temperature of the molecules of potassium-rubidium by using an ultraviolet laser. It happened to omit a bit more than absolute zero – 500 nanokelvins.
When cooled to extremely low temperatures molecules up to a required energy state to form two new molecules. For the low reaction rate, the experts could observe the reaction.
Previously, researchers from the Centre for cold matter could cool a substance to millionths of a degree above absolute zero.
