Scientists: about 50% of people are immune to COVID

Many more people have innate immunity to coronavirus than previously thought.

This is the conclusion of scientists from the UK, who published the results of a study in the journal Research Square.

The study involved 36 young healthy volunteers aged 18 to 29 years. Their medical history indicated neither COVID infection nor vaccination. Each of them received an “intranasal inoculation” – dripped into their noses and then quarantined.

After excluding two test participants who tested positive for COVID, scientists found that 18 volunteers – 53% – became infected, and 16 – no.

The viral load of those infected peaked about five days after vaccination. All those infected had a mild form of the disease. Twelve people developed temporary problems with loss of taste and smell.
