Russia banned using WhatsApp in schools

The Ministry of Education and Enlightenment of Russia has banned teachers and parents from using WhatsApp and other foreign messengers in the educational process or in the workplace. The department recommended switching to the use of VK Messenger.

According to the Kommersant publication, the Ministry of Education of the Khabarovsk Territory and the administration of the Kursk Region said that the federal department demanded that the regions limit the use of foreign messengers within the educational process in schools.

The Ministry of Education of the Nizhny Novgorod Region stated that, in addition to WhatsApp and Viber, they recommended abandoning Skype and GoogleDrive.

The Ministry of Education confirmed sending recommendations not to use foreign messengers, but stressed that they relate exclusively to work with the state system “My School” and its components.
