Romania plans in 2017-2018 to increase the volume of natural gas imports to 2.2 billion cubic meters, which is significantly higher than the import figures of the previous year.
This was announced by the CEO of the company “Transgaz” ion of Sterian, reports the correspondent of UKRINFORM.
“Now the volumes of natural gas storage facilities in the country are the lowest in the last four to five years. Given the growing consumption volumes (in the period of 2016-2017 years, the consumption volume increased by 7-8%), in the coming year, Romania will have to increase gas imports”, — said Stelian.

According to him, the total volume of imports of fuel may be in 2017-2018 2.2 billion cubic meters, whereas last year these figures were at the level of 1.7 billion cubic meters.
According to statistics, about 85% of the demand for natural gas provides Romania due to its own production, and the remaining volumes of imports from Russia.
