UK road surfaces melt due to extreme heat

The UK Met Office has warned of an extreme heat wave that will spread across much of the UK and is expected to last until Tuesday. According to weather forecasts, the temperature may reach 40 degrees Celsius for the first time, which creates serious risks for well-being and even death among healthy people. The British media reported that the RAF is suspending flights at its largest military base due to the fact that the runway has melted.

The decision to close the runway at RAF Brize Norton was taken in connection with the first in the country extreme heat warning “red” level.
