 Rishon Lezion to host torch race with about 400 runners!

On the eve of the start of the Paralympic Games – competitions for people with disabilities, next Sunday, October 23, a torch race will be held in Rishon Lezion. The length of the distance is about 1.3 km, it will be attended by people with disabilities, as well as students of special and secondary schools of the city. The race starts at 9 o'clock in the morning in “Gan a-moshava”, after its completion, a torch will be lit in the square near the municipality, symbolizing the opening of the games.

Paralympic Games — This is an international competition for athletes with special needs, which is held in 192 countries, the total number of participants exceeds 5 million. The National Paralympic Games in Israel will be held on October 25 and 26 in the Galilee. Among the disciplines — sprinting, swimming, cycling, basketball and bowling.

Rishon Lezion Mayor Raz Kinstlich says, “The choice of Rishon as one of the host cities is very logical. We encourage sports and actively promote the integration of people with disabilities into society.

Last year, the municipality of Rishon Lezion introduced employment standards for people with disabilities and adopted a model to promote their employment in all enterprises in the city. For children, teens and adults with intellectual and communication disabilities (ASDs), sports are held every Tuesday evening at the city's track and field stadium.
