Former Israeli athletics champion Svetlana Gnezdilova, who was detained in 2020, was found guilty of pimping.

The Tel Aviv District Court issued a corresponding decision on March 2.

The athlete is accused of running a network of brothels. According to the indictment, Gnezdilova ran brothels under the guise of “massage parlors” for five years, and also entered into a criminal conspiracy abroad, recruiting women to become prostitutes.

“Masseuses”, offered high salaries. In 2019-2020, she managed to hire at least four foreign women.

“For every woman who came to Israel and engaged in prostitution, the defendant paid a commission to intermediaries abroad in the amount of $1,000,” – The prosecutor's office said in a statement.

It is specified that the women worked six days a week for 12-13 hours “per shift”, receiving 250 shekels from clients. Gnezdilova denies all charges.

Svetlana Gnezdilova is a repatriate from Kharkov. In the past, she played for the Israeli track and field team and was a participant in two European Championships.
