Refugees from Ukraine will be able to attend Eurovision for free

Forced migrants from Ukraine who left for the UK due to the Russian invasion will be able to attend Eurovision 2023 for free, which will be held in Liverpool. This is stated on the official website of the competition.

The British government has allocated about three thousand tickets. The UK Department of Culture, Media and Sports will allocate money for the purchase of tickets for Ukrainians.

“Today's announcement means that thousands of tickets will be offered to IDPs so that they can take part in a show that honors their homeland, their culture and their music. As always, we stand with the Ukrainian people and their fight for freedom,” said British Culture Minister Lucy Fraser.

In turn, Liverpool Mayor Joanne Anderson noted that Ukraine will be at the center of all their Eurovision plans.

“Working with our Ukrainian community, we are building a powerful program that is inclusive and represents contemporary Ukraine – inspiring, poignant, funny, beautiful and touching,” she said. – We are glad to hear that Ukrainians-migrants are given the opportunity to come to the city in May – after all, this is their Eurovision Song Contest,” she said.
