 Record number of infections in Germany

The weekly increase in coronavirus cases in Germany has reached a historic high.

WSWS reports.

1,620 patients died from coronavirus in seven days, and since the start of the pandemic – 116 448. It is specified that for every thousand inhabitants there are more than five infected, and for every 100 thousand – 553.2.

By comparison, a year ago there were 50 infected per 100,000 people. The weekly infection rate has more than doubled in recent weeks.

Health Minister Karl Lauterbach has warned that Germany is in for a very difficult week ahead. He believes that the situation in hospitals will worsen.

“Mass infection means that hundreds of thousands of people will become seriously ill. We will again have to mourn the many thousands of deaths from the coronavirus,” & ndash; the minister stressed.
