 Ra'anan police officer's killer charged

A Ramallah resident who was responsible for the death of a police officer during a run over in Ra'anan has been charged. According to the indictment, the 17-year-old Palestinian is charged with aggravated murder, illegal entry, car theft, driving without a driver's license, driving without a valid insurance policy, intentionally endangering the lives of people along the way, and obstructing a police officer. Prosecutors said a Palestinian entered Israel without a permit, stole a car and drove it north from Holon at high speed with the headlights off. The vehicle was fitted with a tracking system and a police report was filed after it was stolen. Law enforcement officers noticed the car and several times urged the guy to stop. The defendant did not react and continued to move at a speed of 145 km/h. The late policeman blocked his traffic. As a result, the guy ran into a law enforcement officer, who later died from his injuries. A motion has been made to extend the term of the defendant's detention until the end of the trial.
