Mass protests continue in Sri Lanka. The presidential palace was occupied by protesters today.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghes called an emergency meeting of party leaders in connection with the ongoing. This was reported by Newswire.

During an emergency meeting, party leaders in Sri Lanka, where large-scale protests are taking place, called on President Gotabayu Rajapaksu to resign.

The protests on the island began more than a month ago. They are caused by the general deterioration of the socio-economic situation. Previously, there were cases when protesters dragged wealthy citizens out of cars and beat them to death due to social inequality.
