Protests against Netanyahu: Tried to run over demonstrators arrested
|News » Incidents
Police arrested a driver on January 10 who tried to run over demonstrators who were protesting legal reform in Beersheba.
No one was hurt in the incident.
One of the protesters said that the driver yelled at the demonstrators: “Anarchists, you destroyed the state.”
“We were standing on the bike path, and suddenly the car turned left and the driver started yelling at us, “Left anarchists, get out.” I waved the Israeli flag, gave him the signal to leave, and he pulled up to the sidewalk. I knocked on his car to stop him, and he came up and shouted: “What are you attacking?”, then they caught him and the police took him away,” another demonstrator said.
According to police, a 26-year-old man was brought in for questioning. He will appear before the court, where the issue of extending his detention will be decided.
Opposition leader Yair Lapid has previously warned that “inciting” new government led by Benjamin Netanyahu will “end in blood”.
המשטרה עצרה אותו. pic.twitter.com/qhjAO7ahTF
