The prizes of the Ukrainian Olympic medalists have been named

$ 1.84 million will be paid to Ukrainian athletes.

The Ukrainian national team won 19 medals at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Each of the Olympic medalists will receive prize money from the state. In total, the state will pay more than 49 million hryvnia, Chronicle.info reports with reference to Channel 24.

Even before the start of the 2020 Olympics, it was known how much athletes can get for receiving medals at the Olympics.

  • gold – 125 thousand dollars
  • silver – 80 thousand dollars
  • bronze – 55 thousand dollars

It should be added that the same prize money was also during the Olympic Games in Rio-2016. At the same time, the amounts were also in dollars, but over the five years, the hryvnia exchange rate against the US currency has slightly changed.

At the 2020 Olympics, the Ukrainian team won 19 medals – one gold, six silver and 12 bronze medals. However, it is worth noting that one of the silver medals was won by Lyudmila Lushchan and Anastasia Chetverikova in a canoe-two. Synchronized swimmers Anastasia Savchuk and Marta Fedina in a pair received bronze medals. They also received bronze awards in the artistic swimming team together with Elizaveta Yakhno, Vladislava Aleksieva, Marina Aleksieva, Alina Shinkarenko, Ksenia Sidorenko and Ekaterina Reznik. For all participants in team sports, the full amount of prize money is provided.

How much money did the athletes receive

Two athletes received the most prizes – swimmer Mikhail Romanchuk and rower Lyudmila Luzan. Both won one silver and one bronze medal at the 2020 Olympics. Therefore, they received a total of 135 thousand dollars. The third place in this rating belongs to the winner of the Olympic Games-2020 Zhan Beleniuk, who received $ 125,000 for the gold medal.
