 The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland will distribute iodine tablets to firefighters "due to hostilities in the ZNPP area"

The Ministry of the Interior of Poland ordered the distribution of potassium iodide tablets to the fire service.

“As part of anti-crisis and civil protection measures, in connection with media reports about the hostilities in the area of ​​the Zaporizhzhya NPP, tablets containing potassium iodide were handed over to the regional headquarters of the State Fire Service last week. This is a standard procedure provided for by law and is used in case of a possible radiation emergency,” the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also noted that at the moment there is no such threat and the situation is under constant monitoring by the National Agency on atomic energy. The ministry assured that the services responsible for state security are in constant readiness, and each Polish citizen is provided with an appropriate amount of potassium iodide.

The Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs also noted that the preventive use of potassium iodide alone is not recommended doctors.
