“I didn’t initiate the breakup. It was our Johnny,” says 79-year-old Maca in the show.
“This was my group, it was my job, it was my life, I wanted it to continue,” he said.
In 1970, it was McCartney who published a press release for his first solo album, revealing that he had taken a “vacation” from the most famous rock band. But now he is finally explaining what happened.
“John came into the room one day and announced that he was leaving The Beatles. It’s quite thrilling, more like a divorce. Then all we had to do was clean it all up,” says McCartney.
McCartney also says that after Lennon’s announcement, the group manager advised to keep the message a secret for some time.
