 Palestinians shelled a military post near Jenin

The IDF said Palestinian militants opened fire on a military post near Jenin early Thursday morning as troops carried out massive raids in the PA that arrested 17 wanted Palestinians. At least one bullet hit the checkpoint, but no one was hurt. Separately, when the troops carried out arrests in Nablus, gunfire was heard and dozens of people threw stones at the soldiers.

In recent months, the PA has lost control of growing territories in Jenin and Nablus. As a result, Israel was forced to send its troops to areas that should be under the full control of the PA to carry out arrests of suspects.

Also in the wee hours of Thursday, the IDF said troops had opened fire on Palestinians stones in Qalqilya, reporting that one suspect had been wounded.

Troops operating in the city of Hebron stopped a suspicious car, which was found to contain a handgun. Four men who were in the car were detained.

17 Palestinians wanted on suspicion of terrorist activities were taken to the Shin Bet security service for questioning.
