As a result of the devastating floods in Pakistan, there are fears that water-borne diseases and starvation will spread among the flood-affected masses of Pakistanis.
Jerusalem Post reports.
“Waterborne diseases and famine threaten to be more deadly than the original flood,” the UN warned.
A UNICEF report says that “displaced families sleep in tents or outdoors within a few meters of large pools of stagnant water, and daytime temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius.”
“More than 3 million children are in need of humanitarian assistance and are at increased risk of disease, waterborne, drowning and malnutrition due to most severe flooding in Pakistan,” UNICEF said.
