 PA breaks up demonstration in support of Lion's Den leader

The security forces of the Palestinian Authority used force to disperse demonstrators demanding the release of one of the founders and commanders of the Lion's Den group; Mossaba Shtayeh.

Security forces fired tear gas and used force against protesters who were chanting slogans in support of the Lion's Den. and against the continued detention of Shtayyeh and other “political” some protesters threw stones at PA security vehicles, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Eyewitnesses said security officials also prevented a number of journalists from covering the protests.

Mossab Shtaye was arrested in September 2022 by the PA security forces in Nablus. His arrest sparked violent protests in the city, during which one Palestinian was killed. Shtayyeh was recently transferred from the PA-controlled Jericho Prison to the Beituniya Detention Center near Ramallah.
