 More than 30,000 applications for astronaut vacancy in Turkey were submitted in two days

In Turkey, 31,000 applications were submitted for the vacancy of an astronaut of the International Space Station in two days, Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank said.

“31,000 of our citizens have applied to fly into space. 225 citizens have completed registration, indicating that they meet the requirements for space flight,” the minister said.

In total, more than 4 million users visited the site created for filing applications in two days.

According to him, the Turkish astronaut will spend 10 days at the International Space Station.

According to the Turkish national space program, the Turkish astronaut will be sent to the International Space Station in 2023.

It was announced that any citizen of the country who meets certain requirements can become a candidate for space flight from Turkey. The age of the future cosmonaut must be no more than 45 years old, he must also have the appropriate education. The astronaut will conduct scientific research and experiments without gravity.
