 New variant of HIV detected in the Netherlands

A new variant of HIV, called VD, has been identified in the Netherlands.

This was reported by scientists from Oxford University.

A total of 17 cases were recorded infections. This virus is more contagious. The new variant destroys the immune system more than twice as fast.

According to the scientists, 15 patients were from the Netherlands, one from Switzerland, and one from Belgium. Deciphering the viral genome revealed many mutations.
