 Nearly half of Israel's population has been infected with Omicron

There have been 2.2 million confirmed cases of infection with the Omicron strain in Israel.

But according to The Times of Israel, Professor Eran Sehgal has calculated that the actual number the number of infected was much higher – about 4.5 million Israelis, which is almost half of the country's population.

According to Segal, about 70% of Israelis have become infected with coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic in the country.

In recent weeks, the number of new infections in Israel has been declining after a shocking peak last month. In this regard, the government plans to lift a number of coronavirus restrictions imposed to contain the wave of Omicron.
