Nazi Germany planned to populate Belarus with Volga Germans - Russian media

B Presidential Library. N. Yeltsina published declassified archival documents of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Soviet Union on her website. It follows from one document that in the 30s of the last century, Nazi Germany wanted to resettle the Volga Germans to the territory of Belarus and turn it into a German colony, the Russian edition of EADaily writes.

The document also clarifies Hitler's plans for a coup d'etat in the Soviet Union.

“The question of turning Belorussia into a German colony, as far as we have learned here, is conceived in such a way that Belorussia, although it will first submit to the new government regime in Russia, will be completely industrialized by Germany,”—

The report states that the Nazis also planned for Belarus to conclude its own customs union with Germany, and to enjoy all kinds of rights as a free state, following the example of Danzig.
