 NATO annual nuclear exercises begin

< /p>

NATO's annual nuclear exercise begins. Allied air forces will practice nuclear deterrence with dozens of aircraft over northwestern Europe starting Monday, October 17, 2022. These exercises, which will last until October 30, are routine, cyclic training and are not connected to any current events in the world.

14 countries and up to 60 aircraft of various types take part, including fourth and fifth generation fighters, as well as observation aircraft and tanker aircraft. As in previous years, American B-52 long-range bombers will take part in the exercise; this year they will take off from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. Training flights will take place over host Belgium, as well as over the North Sea and the United Kingdom. No military weapons will be used.
