NATO headquarters in Brussels expanded honey production

NATO Headquarters in Brussels is actively engaged in the production of honey.

According to the Alliance, after another successful honey harvest, it was decided to double the number of beehives.

“Since April 2020, NATO Headquarters has been home to several beehives as part of a broader 'greening' initiative. It all started with two hives, and now their number has doubled to four,” the report says.

It is noted that each hive can produce from 80 to 100 kg of honey per season. Most of the valuable product remains for the bees to maintain during the winter period.

NATO beekeepers collect an average of 25 kg of honey per year. Most of the honey was reportedly sold to the NATO Charity Bazaar.
