|News » Science & Technology
Fragments of the fortress walls and a mysterious handprint carved into the rock were discovered during archaeological excavations of the Office of Antiquities in the street Sultan Suleiman in Jerusalem.
During the excavations, which were carried out in preparation for the infrastructure and construction work of the Moriah Jerusalem Development Company, sections of a deep ditch-canal were discovered that surrounded the city in order to protect it, starting from 10th century AD and possibly earlier. A mysterious handprint carved into the rock was discovered from the side of the moat, and at the moment, researchers have not yet deciphered this mystery.
