Murder case changed to assault case in Beersheba

Beer Sheva changed murder case to assault case

The Beer Sheva prosecutor's office decided not to press charges against Roni Shumov, 25, who is suspected of murdering his 18-year-old partner. Shumov was detained for 41 days.

At the same time, today the prosecutor's office filed an accusation and a motion for detention pending the end of the proceedings in the Shumov case for the attack on his ex-wife – another woman – and threats against her. < br />
The charges were filed in the Be'er Sheva District Court.

According to the indictment, in November 2021, while traveling, Shumov attacked his partner, grabbed her by the throat and began to strangle her.

The victim began to call for help and, thus, attracted the attention of people passing by.

It was further stated that in the correspondence between the two he threatened her, quoting the Torah pompously. < br />
