After the partial mobilization was announced in Russia, Israeli passports in the country became very popular among Jews. Chief Rabbi of the Russian Federation Berl Lazar spoke about this in an interview with Mishpacha magazine. "Everyone wants an Israeli passport, but you have to wait a whole year", — said the chief rabbi of Russia. Lazar does not think that Russian Jews are quite ready to leave the country. “People want security, to have a passport if they need one. But we have not yet seen waves of aliya — there was no reduction in the number of members of the Jewish community”, — rabbi added. According to Lazar, Russian Jews want to see a strong community in Russia. “They want to have some source of strength, they want the community to be on their side if something happens,” he said.
