 Militants in Yemen abduct UN staff

The Yemen Press Agency (YPA), citing sources, reports that unknown militants abducted six UN employees in the province of Abyan, in the south of the country.

Among the abducted are – one Bulgarian and five Yemenis. According to YPA sources, the militants took away the UN staff in an unknown direction.

Stefan Dujarric, official representative of the UN Secretary General, confirmed press reports about the kidnapping of UN staff. He stated that they were “aware of this case,” Interfax reported.

The UN representative in Yemen, Russell Ghiki, noted that the organization is in close contact with the authorities to ensure the release of employees.< /p>
