Migrant boat sinks in Italy

A boat with migrants sank off the coast of the Italian island of Lampedusa in the Mediterranean Sea.
As a result of the crash, eight people died, another 40 were rescued.
The Italian Coast Guard also escorted Three more damaged ships with 156 people on deck were brought to the island.
According to the country's Ministry of the Interior, Lampedusa is considered one of the main points of entry for migrants to Europe. Last year, about 105,000 people arrived by sea.
