Meta will create the world's fastest supercomputer
Meta Platforms Inc., the owner of the Facebook social network, plans to build the AI Research SuperCluster (RSC) supercomputer, which has been in development for two years. Representatives of the company claim that soon it will surpass all existing analogues. Specialists from partner companies — Nvidia Inc. Penguin Computing Inc. and Pure Storage Inc.
RSC is expected to be fully operational by summer 2022. It will contain about 16,000 GPUs, which should ensure its dominant position among other supercomputers. Its tasks will include assistance in creating artificial intelligence models that can work with hundreds of languages, analyze texts, images and videos simultaneously.
Currently, the supercomputer is used to train artificial intelligence models in natural language processing and computer vision for research.
