Israel recently offered Hamas a deal to exchange prisoners, but the terrorists refused the offer.

The offer would allow Israel to release a few hundred prisoners, but not any prisoner with Israeli blood on their hands. Hamas refused and demanded the release of more prisoners.
At the same time, Hamas today released a video of Israeli captive Hisham al-Sayed, who was lying in a hospital bed. Israeli officials believe that Hamas was trying to put pressure on Israel in this way in order to reach a more favorable agreement.
At the same time, Hamas sources told Al Mayadeen TV tonight that they were ready to an immediate prisoner exchange deal.
