 Mass internet shutdown in Lebanon

On Sunday, January 16, the Internet was massively out of service in Lebanon due to a shortage of diesel fuel, Aruts Sheva reports.

The head of the state provider Ogero, Imad Kreidiye, announced the blackout on the social network. He noted that the Internet will be cut off due to running out of fuel at a major station in west Beirut.

More than 26,000 subscribers were affected by the outage, he told Al-Jadeed TV. Cradie said that by Sunday afternoon, a local resident had donated diesel fuel, which allowed the station to resume operation.

“The situation is unbearable,” Cradie said.
